One thing unique about American High School wrestling is that only the United States practices this system of wrestling. While other systems of wrestling are similar in techniques and positions, the rules are what make this sport unique to the United States.
In addition to being a uniquely American Sport it is also a terrific foundation for several other sports such as Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling which are the Olympic styles. Wrestlers often do well when switching to Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and in Mixed martial arts.
